Shenira Floyd is entering her eighth year with the School District of the City of York, where she previously served as a 7/8 ELA teacher and Instructional Specialist for ELA & Social Studies. Before joining SDCY, Mrs. Floyd dedicated 11 years to teaching in her hometown with the Baltimore City Public School System, accumulating nearly 18 years in education overall. Her educational background includes a B.S. in Elementary Education from Morgan State University, and M.Ed. degrees in Reading Specialist from Loyola University and Education Administration from Grand Canyon University.
In addition to her roles in education, Mrs. Floyd is an author, wife, and mother of three. She and her family live in York County, PA.
As an Instructional Specialist, Mrs. Floyd was responsible for supporting teachers through coaching and feedback, mentoring mentor teachers, participating in building PLCs, facilitating collaborative planning sessions, and leading SDCY Equity PD Sessions. She also served as a facilitator for Leaders Connect, guiding a Community of Practice on Inclusive Practices for Academic Equity. In April 2024, she was invited to present at the PA NAME conference at Millersville University.
Mrs. Floyd looks forward to supporting the students, staff, and families of Ferguson Pre-K-8 and collaborating to create a positive and inclusive educational environment. She is committed to working with and supporting her colleagues and students in her new role.
Mrs. Floyd believes that education should be inclusive and equitable, ensuring that every student has access to the resources and support they need to succeed. She is dedicated to fostering a collaborative and positive learning environment where students feel valued and empowered to achieve their full potential.
