About the Principal:

Principal Love

Lisa Love is an instructional leader with nearly 30 years of experience as a master teacher, teacher mentor, transformation specialist, Assistant Principal, and Principal. She earned her B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Memphis, a M.S. in Education, and an Ed.S. in Administration and Supervision from Union University. Upon completion of her undergraduate studies, Mrs. Love began her teaching career as a sixth-grade teacher in the Memphis City School District which is now the Memphis Shelby County School District. Her primary content focus was English Language Arts and Character Education. In 2004, Mrs. Love was nominated and won the Sam’s Club Teacher of the Year Award. After teaching for eight years as a middle school teacher, she became a middle school Assistant Principal and then the middle school Principal at American Way Middle School. Mrs. Love, along with an outstanding staff were able to achieve removing the school from the state takeover list.

After serving the Memphis Shelby County School District for eighteen years, Mrs. Love relocated to Pennsylvania and began transformational work in the Harrisburg School District as a school administrator and transformation specialist. She was the Principal/head of school at Logos Academy in Harrisburg, followed by serving the City of York School District as a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support Specialist. Throughout her service as an educator, Mrs. Love has always believed in the power of service-learning and its impact on a student’s personal growth. She has embodied the power of service by establishing service-learning groups for female students throughout her career. Her first organization was the GEMS (Girls Empowering Minds and Society) of Ross Elementary School, followed by Le Belle Mademoiselles of Kirby Middle School. Mrs. Love organized the Bearcat Pearls of William Penn Senior High School in 2022. Anything to promote self-esteem and courage, build confidence, and increase the love of others to better our community-Lisa is your person.

As one who believes that continued professional growth and development is essential to building teacher capacity, mentoring aspiring school leaders, motivating students to reach optimal success, and fostering a sense of community within school buildings and the communities they serve, Mrs. Love has participated in the University of Memphis Leadership Fellows Program, the Memphis City Schools Executive Leadership Program for Aspiring School Leaders, the Harvard National Institute for Urban School Leaders. She is currently enrolled in cohort 21 of the University of Virginia (UVA) Partnership for Leaders in Education program. 

Lisa’s heart and passion lies in serving others with an unselfish love that creates lasting authentic relationships. She also enjoys being in the presence of joyful laughter, cooking, and taking risks to learn new things. Mrs. Love has served as a mentor to many rising educators, several have been former students. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Above all, Lisa is family oriented. She is happily married to Pechone Love and the mother of Justin Maclin who resides in Baton Rouge, LA where he graduated from Louisiana State University on a football scholarship.
